OUR STORY

Croc Farm To Brewery

It all started with a bunch of mates and a big idea (fueled, of course, by great beer).

These guys had been kicking around the beer scene for a while, and they had one thing on their minds: brew a hop-packed American Pale Ale with bold flavour and a punchy aroma that’d knock your thongs off.

They stumbled across an old crocodile farm perched on the edge of Fremantle’s harbour—yep, really—and knew they’d found something special. So they rolled up their sleeves, fired up the brew kettles, and got to work turning that shed into a buzzing brewery.

By late 2000, Little Creatures flung open its doors, beers in hand, ready to shake up the Aussie beer scene. And we’ve been doing things a little differently ever since.

ALL HAil the Pale

Little Creatures was built for one reason: Pale Ale. Not just any pale—but our Pale. Hoppy, punchy, and proudly different.

This place was purpose-built to do it justice. Every tank, every pipe, every brew day revolves around giving our Pale the time and love it needs. We’re talking nearly six weeks from brew to bottle—no shortcuts, no compromises.

We went hunting for the juiciest hops we could find, hauling them all the way from the U.S., and started crafting a beer that’d wake up Aussie palates and win over hop-curious drinkers everywhere.

The result? A bold, hop-driven classic that sparked a flavour revolution—and a loyal crew of Pale Ale fanatics to follow.

Then came Rogers

Not long after the Pale came to life, we called in a couple of industry legends to lend a hand—two true gents from Old Blighty: Roger Bailey and Roger Bussell. They helped us not only build the place, but also shape what came next in our brewing journey.

The result? Rogers—a smooth, amber ale brewed in their honour.

Packed with the signature hop kick we were getting known for, Rogers brought something a little different to the table: a rich combo of specialty malts and a lower ABV, making it the ultimate session beer with serious flavour.

It’s mellow, malty, and just a little bit cheeky—kind of like the blokes it’s named after.

THE Great Hall: Bringing Hospitality to the Brewery

We’ve always believed beer tastes better when you’re close to where it’s made. So instead of tucking our brewhouse out the back, we flipped the script.

We built our Great Hall right in the heart of the action—surrounded by towering tanks, the clatter of kegs, brewers in hi-vis doing their thing, and the sweet, bready smell of beer in the making.

It’s not just about sipping a cold one (though we highly recommend that). It’s about soaking in the full brewery experience—sights, sounds, aromas, and yes, even a cheeky bite to eat.

Because for us, brewing and hospitality go hand in hand. Great beer deserves great company, and there’s always a seat at our table.

A LITTLE BREWERY GETS A bit bigger

By 2005, folks were well and truly getting around our Pale Ale. We’d lured in a growing crowd of curious beer lovers—not just in WA, but over on the East Coast too. The hop wave was rolling, and we needed a bit more elbow room to keep up.

So, we knocked on the neighbour’s door (figuratively) and built a shiny new brewhouse right next door.

With tanks multiplying and kegs rolling out the door, it felt like the right time to take Little Creatures beyond Fremantle. We packed up our passion for hop-forward beer and hit the road—keen to spread the flavour far and wide.

OUR FIRST EAST COAST HOME

With the east coast catching hop fever, we knew we needed a home for our new beer-loving mates to gather, sip, and soak it all in.

While we weren’t quite ready to fire up another full-blown brewery just yet, we found a cosy little corner in the heart of Fitzroy and opened the Little Creatures Dining Hall in 2008.

It became a buzzing spot for good food, great beer, and even better company—bringing a taste of Freo across the Nullarbor. We poured plenty of pints and made a heap of memories there, right up until early 2016, when it was time to shift our focus to something bigger and brew-ier… Geelong (but more on that in a sec).

minimise the miles and maximise The flavour

By 2013, we knew it was time to start brewing beer on the East Coast too—because fresh beer is tasty beer, and our mates over there deserved the good stuff straight from the source.

We’d actually snapped up a cracking site in Geelong back in 2011—a sprawling old wool mill built in 1923—and spent a couple of years bringing it back to life, Little Creatures-style. The goal? Keep the character, add some tanks, and create a brewery experience worthy of our Surf Coast neighbours.

In October 2013, we mashed in our very first Geelong-brewed Pale Ale—and we haven’t looked back since.

These days, whether you’re sipping a pint in Freo or Geelong, you’re tasting the same recipe, ingredients, processes and obsessive quality checks. Because we’re nothing if not particular about our beer.

OUR Communities

From day one, we’ve been all about creativity, community, and good vibes. The artsy, free-thinking crowd has always felt like our people—and we’ve proudly backed all kinds of creative events and projects across the country ever since.

There’s nothing we love more than giving a leg-up to the legends bringing bold ideas to life and helping them share their work with more and more curious minds (preferably with a beer in hand).

Closer to home, we’ve always believed in looking after our backyard. Whether it’s Freo or Geelong, our venues back the locals—sourcing local produce, hiring local legends, getting behind grassroots causes, and supporting the community however we can.

Because great beer is only part of the story. The people around it? That’s what really makes it special.
